Deli Manager
Reporting to the Food Division Manager, the Deli Lead leads the day- to-day operations of the Deli department in providing quality Deli products and services in our main store. This leader will bring a positive approach; show initiative and drive for results; someone who can build and maintain relationships with customers and with the employee team while ensuring that the administrative requirements of the role are fully maintained. The successful candidate will be responsible for duties such as but not limited to merchandising, marketing, administrative procedures, pricing, housekeeping, inventory control, scheduling, customer service, budgeting and staff supervision. This is a union position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Team Lead
- Lead the department team members in a positive, engaging manner that aligns with the Co-op's vision, mission, values, brand, and emphasizes safety.
- Deliver on the brand promise, ensuring customers feel a sense of belonging and comfort while shopping.
Operational Excellence
- Ensure the efficient operation of the department to meet all financial targets and achieve budgeted goals.
- Working with the Food Division Manager, help prepare, administer, and achieve budgeted goals related to pricing, sales, margin, expenses, and inventory.
Customer Service
- Provide exceptional customer service, resolving issues as they arise.
- Contribute to the development of a positive customer experience, implementing new programs to grow the current customer base.
Leadership & Oversight
- Provide direction to the deli team through coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
- Use verbal communication with team member to ensure success and compliance, and will work with Food Division Manager to complete performance reviews.
Market Awareness
- Stay up-to-date with current and new products in the market, ensuring the department offers relevant and innovative items.
Safety Leadership
- Lead department safety initiatives, actively contributing to building and sustaining a positive safety culture.
- Ensure all employees adhere to health & safety procedures.
Training & Development
- Help develop quality team training programs.
- Contribute to succession planning within the Deli department.
Talent Acquisition
- Determine staffing requirements and work with the Food Division Manager with recruitment.
- Attend interviews and suggest best candidate for positions in the department to the Food Division Manager.
Qualifications:
- A secondary school diploma is required; business-related education would be an asset.
- A minimum of 3 years management or supervisory experience.
- Management training is considered an asset.
- Strong leadership skills and skilled in coaching and training.
- Experience motivating and developing direct reports.
- Experience with Margin Management
Pay: $42,000.00-$62,000.00 per year

Education:
