Welcome, Viviana Pinilla: Human Resource Advisor
I'm so pleased to welcome Viviana Pinilla to our Management Team as our new Human Resource Advisor.
Viviana is an accomplished HR professional with more than 10 years of experience. She holds an MBA and a CPHR designation, and brings deep expertise in talent management, as well as partnering with leaders to build engaged, high-performing, and development-focused teams.
Viviana is excited to contribute her knowledge and experience while continuing to learn from both our team and the broader community, in support of the Co-op's ongoing success.
Outside of work, Viviana enjoys outdoor activities, exploring new places, and staying active through fitness and wellness. While she is still building her water sports skills ☺️, she embraces new challenges with curiosity and enthusiasm and is always open to trying something new.
In Viviana's words:

Congratulations, Ken Black: Gas Bar Manager
I'm proud to announce Ken Black as our new Gas Bar Manager.
Ken brings over 12 years of leadership experience across retail, food service, and hospitality. His career includes six years with Domino's in Campbell River, where he began as a delivery driver and progressed into the role of General Manager. This hands-on career path helped shape Ken's strong operational expertise and people-first leadership approach.
Ken also brings strong local hospitality experience from the Black Rock Oceanfront Resort in Ucluelet, where he advanced through several roles and later served as Assistant Executive Housekeeper and Acting Executive Housekeeper in a fast-paced resort environment.
A proud resident of Ucluelet for the past 10 years, Ken has been part of our Co-op family for four years. He has steadily progressed from Pump Attendant to Supervisor, Assistant Store Manager, and now into his current leadership role as Gas Bar Manager. Ken is known as a hands-on leader who actively supports, mentors, and develops his team.
Ken brings a strong customer-first mindset, along with kindness, patience, and a deep commitment to PSI (Product, Service, and Image). These values have consistently contributed to his success and will continue to guide his leadership here.
Outside of work, Ken enjoys spending time with his wife of 12 years and raising their two young daughters, ages 7 and 8.

Congratulations, Josh Anker: Meat Manager
I'm also thrilled to announce Josh Anker as our new Meat Manager.
Josh has been a valued member of our meat department since 2018. With over 20 years of culinary experience, he brings a deep knowledge of food, craftsmanship, and customer service to his new role. Josh is excited to apply his skills while working closely with both the team and our customers, and he hopes his passion for food and culture will help set a new standard in the retail industry.
Outside of work, Josh enjoys spending time with his growing family, exploring nature, playing disc golf, and surfing.
